J200/01 Exploring Media - written exam (1 hr 15) 70 marks, 35% of total GCSE
In this module, you will learn about media forms (70 marks). 
In Section A Media Forms, a mix of short and longer questions are on video games, television programming and radio. The focus of question 3 is on how film language creates representations, whilst question 4 is on audiences (22 marks). Texts include 


In Section B In-depth Studies, the questions are extended response questions on representation in advertising and marketing, radio and online media, based on prepared case studies (24 marks).
In Section C, the discussion question is an extended response question (24 marks) based on your case studies and other prepared material of

  • Advertising and marketing (Fairy Snow / Procter & Gamble Olympic Games sponsorship)
  • Newspapers (The Guardian / The Daily Telegraph)
  • Online, social and participatory media (imdb pages for the film / Ghostbusters and Mumsnet)
Time allowed: 1 hour 15 minutes
